Munich Motor Show Unveils Major Electric Models Across Europe

The 2025 Munich Motor Show, also known as IAA Mobility, showcased a broad array of new electric vehicles (EVs) and concept cars from major European automakers amid ongoing industry challenges including tariff hikes, rising costs, and intense competition from Chinese firms. BMW unveiled its new iX3 SUV built on the next-generation Neue Klasse platform, featuring a 500-mile range and ultra-fast 400 kW charging, signaling a push for longer-range, rapid-charging EVs. Volkswagen revealed the ID Cross concept and is focusing on more affordable EVs, while Cupra introduced the compact electric Raval supermini, emphasizing performance and design. Mercedes-Benz showcased the GLC EQ, an electric successor with up to 443 miles of range, advanced features, and significant interior space improvements. Industry leaders acknowledged the multiple crises facing Europe's auto sector, including declining sales in China and costly US tariffs, but also indicated a strategic shift toward diversifying production beyond solely electric vehicles to meet 2035 emissions targets.
