Virginia State Police Agent Shoots Man During Virginia Beach Break-In
An off-duty Virginia State Police special agent shot and killed a 40-year-old man who attempted to break into his home in the Bay Colony neighborhood of Virginia Beach. The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. on a Sunday, when the man tried to force his way inside the agent’s residence on Lee Road, leading to a physical confrontation during which the agent fired his service weapon. The man was given emergency medical care at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died. The special agent sustained moderate injuries during the altercation and was also hospitalized. The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Richmond Division is actively investigating the case, and the agent has been placed on administrative leave as per department policy. Neighbors expressed shock and concern over the break-in attempt, noting the typically quiet nature of the area, though the motive behind the break-in and any prior relationship between the agent and the man remain unknown.
