Bogalusa Mayor Tyrin Truong Arrested on Charges

Tyrin Truong, the 25-year-old mayor of Bogalusa, Louisiana, was arrested for soliciting prostitutes and involvement in a drug trafficking operation following a nine-month investigation by the Louisiana State Police Narcotics Violent Crime Task Force. Truong, who was elected in 2022 on a platform to improve safety in the city, has been accused of using taxpayer funds to pay for illegal activities, including drug purchases during a conference. The drug trafficking organization he is linked to reportedly distributed opioids, high-grade marijuana, and MDMA, using social media for transactions. Following his arrest, Truong posted a $150,000 bail and was released from jail. Six other individuals were also arrested in connection with the operation, which allegedly funneled drug profits into purchasing firearms for violent crimes. The situation has raised serious concerns about accountability and governance in Bogalusa, highlighting the challenges faced by young leaders in positions of power.
