Olympic Cyclist Katy Marchant's Crash Halts Event
Olympic champion cyclist Katy Marchant suffered a broken arm in a crash at the UCI Track Champions League event in London, causing the suspension of the final round. Marchant collided with German cyclist Alessa-Catriona Propster during the women's keirin, sending both riders and their bikes into the spectator area. Four spectators were also injured, but all involved were treated on site and reported to be in stable condition. Following the incident, the Union Cycliste Internationale, British Cycling, and event organizers decided to cancel the remaining races. Marchant, who won team sprint gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics, received prompt medical care and was transferred to the hospital for further treatment. The authorities are reviewing the incident to determine appropriate measures moving forward.
