Phillies Designate Kennedy, Claim de Geus Off Waivers
The Philadelphia Phillies have made significant roster moves, designating infielder Buddy Kennedy for assignment due to a disappointing Spring Training performance. Kennedy has since cleared waivers, re-signed with the Phillies on a minor-league deal, and will aim to impress in Triple-A Lehigh Valley. In addition, the team claimed relief pitcher Brett de Geus off waivers from the Miami Marlins and also optioned him to Triple-A. De Geus, a 27-year-old right-hander with a career 7.48 ERA, has struggled in the majors but possesses notable velocity, which the Phillies hope to develop. Both players represent depth options for the Phillies as they navigate the early portion of the season.
