The accident occurred around 2:13 p.m. on August 7, when Hinkle's 2024 Volkswagen Jetta rear-ended a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe, causing her vehicle to strike a wall and rebound into traffic, where it collided with a 2012 Ford F-150. Hinkle was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she later died from her injuries, while the other two drivers sustained minor injuries.
