Alabama Beats Tennessee 37-20

No. 4 Alabama defeated No. 17 Tennessee 37-20 at Bryant-Denny Stadium as a 99-yard interception return by Zabien Brown as the first half expired turned a close game into a 23-7 lead. Quarterback Ty Simpson completed 19 of 29 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns, and Daniel Hill’s late 4-yard score helped seal the win. Alabama’s defense forced turnovers, produced a safety and held Tennessee to 410 total yards. Tennessee’s Joey Aguilar was 28-of-44 for 268 yards and De’Sean Bishop rushed for 123 yards and two TDs, but miscues and missed opportunities cost the Vols. The victory was Alabama’s fourth straight over ranked SEC opponents, while the loss damaged Tennessee’s College Football Playoff margin; Tennessee now heads to Lexington to face Kentucky, and coach Josh Heupel said Aguilar is expected to be available after being banged up against Alabama.
