Northern New York Police Seize 134 Illegal Firearms in Major Bust

Law enforcement in Northern New York executed one of the largest firearms seizures in the region's history, confiscating 134 guns from residences in Albany, Troy, and storage units in Menands. The weapons, including handguns, high-powered rifles, and firearms concealed in stereo equipment, were linked to siblings Iziah and Kaya Cox, who face charges for running fraudulent businesses funneling money from scams. Iziah Cox has been charged with unlawful possession of firearms as a felon, and both siblings have been detained. This operation, part of the FBI's broader initiative to reduce violent crime called 'Operation Summer Heat,' involved over 200 officers from more than 20 agencies and reflects a successful multi-agency collaboration. Officials emphasized that removing these firearms from the streets will save lives and enhance community safety, marking a historic victory in combating violent crime in the Capital Region. Meanwhile, federal agencies in Washington, D.C., under President Trump's crime initiative, have also increased arrests and firearm seizures, supported by National Guard deployments to improve public safety amid ongoing crime concerns.
