Pittsburgh Penguins Place Goaltender Tristan Jarry on Waivers

The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed goaltender Tristan Jarry on waivers following a disappointing season marked by inconsistency and struggles. Jarry, who signed a five-year contract in July 2023, has recorded an 8-8-4 record with a 3.31 goals-against average and an .886 save percentage, contributing to the team's poor performance, which includes losing seven of their last eight games. Penguins' management, led by General Manager Kyle Dubas, acknowledged the decision reflects a lack of trust in Jarry's abilities to perform at a high level. His teammates defended him, attributing some of his struggles to the overall team's defensive issues rather than solely his performance. If Jarry clears waivers, he is expected to be assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton AHL team, while the Penguins will recall goaltending prospect Joel Blomqvist.
