Dolphins Plan Starters Play Preseason Finale vs Jaguars
Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel announced that starters will play in the upcoming Saturday preseason finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars, marking the first time in his tenure that starters will appear in more than one preseason game. The amount of playing time for starters will be decided after Thursday's joint practice with the Jaguars, allowing McDaniel and his staff to gauge readiness and strategize accordingly. Key players such as tight end Darren Waller, recently activated off the physically unable to perform list after coming out of retirement, are progressing in practice, with McDaniel optimistic about his readiness for the regular season opener. Meanwhile, some starters, including running back De'Von Achane, wide receiver Tyreek Hill, and outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips, are dealing with injuries and may not participate in the game. Defensive tackle Kenneth Grant remains day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, and cornerback Kendall Sheffield is sidelined due to a soft tissue injury. The Dolphins are focused on finalizing their roster cuts following the game before preparing for the regular season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
