Penguins Trade Vincent Desharnais to Sharks for 2028 Pick
The San Jose Sharks have acquired defenseman Vincent Desharnais from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2028 fifth-round draft pick. Desharnais, 28, has played for both the Penguins and Vancouver Canucks this season, accumulating three assists and 34 penalty minutes in 44 games. He is known for his physical play and is expected to bolster the Sharks' blue line depth. Desharnais signed a two-year, $4 million contract with Vancouver before being traded to Pittsburgh in a deal involving Marcus Pettersson. The Penguins now possess eight selections in the 2028 NHL Draft. The Sharks, meanwhile, are preparing to conclude a seven-game road trip against the Colorado Avalanche.
