Shane van Gisbergen, the New Zealand native, dominated NASCAR's Chicago Street Race weekend by winning both the Cup Series Grant Park 165 and the Xfinity Series race, sweeping the event with two poles and two victories. Van Gisbergen led 26 laps in the Cup race and took the lead for good with 16 laps remaining, maintaining it until a late caution ended the race. Michael McDowell led the most laps but was forced out due to throttle issues, finishing 32nd.
