Delaware Universities Evacuate Campuses Amid Bomb Threats
On September 30, multiple universities across Delaware and Maryland were evacuated due to bomb threats and potential safety incidents. The University of Delaware in Newark evacuated several buildings while investigating a "potential campus safety incident," with local police closing nearby roads as a precaution. Delaware State University in Dover received a bomb threat just before 11 a.m., leading to the evacuation of academic buildings, cancellation of classes, and most employees being sent home; this university is coordinating with state and federal law enforcement. Similar threats were reported at Morgan State University and Towson University in Maryland, both historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Additionally, the Cleveland Institute of Art in Ohio was evacuated following a bomb threat, with law enforcement investigating and classes canceled for the day. No injuries have been reported in any of these incidents, and authorities continue to investigate the threats, which are being treated with caution to ensure community safety.
