JetBlue Adds Nine New Routes Fort Lauderdale Amid Spirit Decline
JetBlue is significantly expanding its presence at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport by adding nine new nonstop routes starting in November and December, including a new destination to Cali, Colombia. This expansion follows recent service reductions by Spirit Airlines, which has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time and is refocusing on key markets. JetBlue will increase its daily departures to 113, solidifying its position as the largest carrier at Fort Lauderdale with more flights than any other airline on peak days. The new routes include both domestic and international destinations such as Aruba, Cartagena, Grand Cayman, Liberia, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, San Pedro Sula, and St. Maarten. Additionally, JetBlue will increase frequency on nine existing routes, enhancing connectivity across the Americas as part of its JetForward strategy. Local officials have welcomed the expansion, highlighting its positive impact on regional travel options and economic growth.
