Englewood Police Shoot Suspect After Officer Stabbed at Denny's
Englewood police responded to a report early Monday morning at a Denny's restaurant where a suspect had pulled a knife on an employee and attempted to stab them. Upon arrival, the suspect was found alone in the bathroom and, after contact by officers, charged at them with a knife, stabbing one officer in the shoulder. Another officer then shot the suspect, disarming him, and both the suspect and the injured officer were treated at area hospitals; the officer was released, while the suspect remains hospitalized. The suspect will be booked into the Arapahoe County Jail on charges related to the stabbing once released from medical care. The 18th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is conducting an independent investigation, and the involved officers have been placed on paid administrative leave per department policy. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Englewood Police Department.
