Reports Highlight Threats Against Kashmiri Students Nationwide

Following the Pahalgam terror attack, reports have emerged of Kashmiri students facing threats and harassment in various parts of India, particularly in Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Maharashtra. Left parties, including the Communist Party of India (Marxist), condemned these incidents, warning that such actions only advance the agenda of terrorists and undermine national unity. In Dehradun, threats from groups like the Hindu Raksha Dal have led some Kashmiri students to leave, while others have sought police protection. Authorities in Uttarakhand have responded by increasing security, removing objectionable social media posts, and assuring zero tolerance for communal intimidation, with FIRs filed and arrests expected. Political leaders, including J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, have reached out to counterparts in affected states to ensure student safety. Amid rising tensions and social media campaigns targeting Kashmiris, calls for empathy and firm action against those spreading hate and division have grown.
