E. coli Detected in El Paso Water Well

El Paso Water confirmed that a routine water sample from a well in the Lower Valley tested positive for E. coli on November 19. The well, located on Kessler Drive, was immediately taken out of service and disinfected, with officials stating that the water remains safe to drink and a boil water notice is unnecessary. This type of detection is considered extremely rare among the utility's 157 wells, which undergo monthly testing. The utility reassured the public that water delivered to customers continues to meet safety standards. E. coli can cause health issues, especially in vulnerable populations such as infants and those with compromised immune systems, prompting officials to advise affected individuals to seek medical guidance. Regular testing will continue to ensure water quality at the site.
