WVU Selects New President, Approves Band Facility

The West Virginia University Board of Governors has selected a new president, who will be the university's 27th leader, though the identity remains undisclosed pending contract finalization. The selected individual will succeed Gordon Gee, who will retire in June 2025. Additionally, the board approved the construction of the Pride Practice Facility for the Mountaineer Marching Band, with a budget of $1,662,000. Phase I will include an artificial turf field named Don Wilcox Field and is expected to be completed by July for the fall band camp. Fundraising efforts for the facility had been ongoing for nearly five years, with $1.25 million already raised.
