Waterbury Shooting Suspect Xavier Bishop Arrested Pennsylvania After Multi-State Manhunt
Xavier Bishop was arrested in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, by U.S. Marshals in connection with a double shooting that occurred on August 16 in Waterbury, Connecticut. The shooting left two men injured: Alan Ross, 40, who was critically wounded and hospitalized, and Everton Whyte, 28, who sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his ear. Bishop faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree assault, criminal use and possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm, and illegal sale or transfer of a firearm. The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort among the Waterbury Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, Fugitive Task Force, and law enforcement in Pennsylvania. Following his arrest, Bishop is expected to be extradited back to Connecticut. The shooting and a prior murder have prompted increased police presence in the Willow Street area.
