Russian Missile Attacks Cause Power Outages in Ukraine

Ukraine has faced multiple Russian attacks targeting its energy infrastructure, resulting in extensive power outages across various regions. A recent missile strike forced emergency power cuts in northeastern Kharkiv and Sumy, as well as in Donetsk, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Kirovohrad. In Kherson, approximately 23,000 households lost electricity following shelling that damaged power equipment, with local officials reporting further damage to residential areas and social infrastructure. The Sumy region has seen a significant increase in attacks, with a recent drone strike affecting power supply to 185 settlements. Ukrainian President Zelenskiy has urged allies to fulfill their commitments to supply weapons for better defense against these ongoing assaults. The attacks are viewed as part of a strategy to pressure the Ukrainian population during the winter months.
