Gianfranco Torres-Navarro, a 38-year-old reputed leader of the Peruvian gang 'Los Killers', was arrested in Endicott, New York, after entering the U.S. illegally at the Texas-Mexico border. He is wanted in Peru for nearly two dozen killings, including the murder of a retired police officer. Following his initial arrest on May 16, he was served a notice for immigration proceedings, but ICE detained him again after learning of his wanted status on July 8. Torres-Navarro is being held at a federal facility in Buffalo while awaiting an immigration hearing. His girlfriend, Mishelle Sol Ivanna Ortíz Ubillús, was also arrested and is in custody in Pennsylvania. Authorities emphasize that he poses a significant threat to public safety and that New York will not serve as a refuge for dangerous individuals.
