Ravi Rana, the Independent MLA from Badnera, announced that his wife Navneet Rana will not contest the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has assured her a seat in the Rajya Sabha. He expressed confidence in her role as a former Lok Sabha MP from Amravati, stating she will support the BJP candidate's victory in the forthcoming polls, which are expected next month before the assembly term ends on November 26. Despite losing her Lok Sabha seat in 2024 to Congress candidate Balwant Wankhade, Navneet Rana had previously won as an independent in 2019 and joined the BJP in 2024. Key BJP leaders, including Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Devendra Fadnavis, have indicated her Rajya Sabha membership is appropriate for her political future.
