Ooredoo Qatar selects Nokia for 5G core modernization

Ooredoo Qatar has partnered with Nokia to modernize its core network in a significant shift towards a 5G standalone (SA) core, enabling advanced services through network slicing and the integration of AI and machine learning. This upgrade aims to enhance capabilities such as ultra-low latency bandwidth and multi-access edge computing, facilitating real-time industrial automation and high-quality gaming experiences. The deployment includes Nokia's 5G voice core, packet core, and subscriber data management, along with the MantaRay NM solution for automated network monitoring. Ooredoo anticipates that the modernization will unlock new revenue streams and improve customer and enterprise experiences. Raghav Sahgal, Nokia's President of Cloud and Network Services, emphasized the importance of a cloud-native infrastructure to expose the network for enhanced application connectivity. The deal also features Nokia's Data Center Fabric solution to optimize scalability and efficiency in operations.
