Two Deputies Involved in Separate Semi-Truck Crashes

Two separate incidents involving sheriff's deputies and semi-truck collisions occurred this week. In Johnson County, Iowa, a deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries when his patrol vehicle was struck by a semi near North Liberty and was released from the hospital the same day; the Iowa State Patrol is investigating. In Doña Ana County, New Mexico, 33-year-old Deputy Antonio Aleman died after his patrol car collided with a semi-truck on Interstate 10 near the Avenida de Mesilla exit. Aleman, who had been with the sheriff’s office since April 2021, is survived by his wife and two children. The New Mexico State Police are investigating the fatal crash. Aleman’s body will be accompanied by sheriff’s personnel until he is laid to rest.
