Gabriel Bortoleto Wins 2024 F2 Championship

Gabriel Bortoleto clinched the 2024 Formula 2 Drivers' Championship at the Abu Dhabi finale after his closest rival, Isack Hadjar, stalled at the start, effectively ending his title hopes. Bortoleto, who started second, quickly took the lead, finishing the race in second place behind Joshua Duerksen, who secured victory. Hadjar, starting in third and just 4.5 points behind Bortoleto, was forced to pit after his stall and ended the race a lap down in 19th. This victory makes Bortoleto the first driver since Oscar Piastri to win both F3 and F2 titles consecutively as a rookie. Despite the setback, Hadjar expressed frustration over the mechanical failure, calling it the 'worst moment of my life'. Bortoleto's championship win secures him a seat with Sauber in Formula 1 next season.
