Sheehan to Captain Lions Against Western Force
Dan Sheehan will captain the British & Irish Lions in their opening tour match against the Western Force in Perth, making his debut along with eight other first-time Lions in the squad. Head coach Andy Farrell has made 13 changes from the team that lost to Argentina, retaining only Sione Tuipulotu and Tadhg Beirne, both in new positions. The starting XV comprises eight Irish players, four Scots, two Englishmen, and one Welshman, Tomos Williams. England's Henry Pollock is set for his first start at number eight, while fly-half Finn Russell returns to the lineup after being rested. Western Force, featuring six Wallaby squad members, are expected to present a tough challenge. Farrell praised Sheehan's leadership and highlighted the honor of captaining the Lions on debut, as well as the anticipated test from the Australian side.
