Gang Member Arrested After Disguise Attempt

Niefred Jose Serpa-Acosta, a 20-year-old member of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, attempted to evade arrest by disguising himself as a woman during a police sweep in Aurora, Colorado. This incident occurred after he was involved in the brutal kidnapping and torture of a Venezuelan couple at the Edge of Lowry Apartments. Aurora Police were responding to a 911 call from the victims when they encountered Serpa-Acosta, who emerged with his hands raised, dressed in a wig and women's clothing. Despite his disguise, his deep voice led to his identification. Serpa-Acosta had previously been wanted since August following a viral video showing armed gang members storming the same apartment complex. Police Chief Todd Chamberlin highlighted the organized nature of the gang and their efforts to avoid capture.
