Spike Lee announced that his upcoming film, Highest 2 Lowest, will feature A$AP Rocky in the main role, alongside Denzel Washington, Ice Spice, and others. The film is described as a reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa's 1963 thriller High and Low, shifting the narrative focus from a shoemaker to a music mogul played by Washington. Lee emphasized that the film is not a remake but a fresh take inspired by Kurosawa, whose work has significantly influenced his career. During a talk at the Red Sea Film Festival, Lee referred to his collaboration with Washington as a 'dynamic duo', marking their fifth film together after an 18-year hiatus since Inside Man. Apple Original Films and A24 are collaborating to release the film theatrically before it streams on AppleTV+. Lee expressed excitement about the project while reflecting on his filmmaking journey and the blessings it entails.
