Fort Worth Driver Dies After Shooting, Crash Amid Altercation
A man in Fort Worth was fatally shot while driving on East Berry Street after an altercation near a convenience store involving two people in a pickup truck and the victim. The victim's sedan was struck by gunfire, causing him to crash into a utility pole and suffer critical injuries before later dying in the hospital. Christopher Blanton, 29, was arrested at the scene on an aggravated assault charge, which has since been upgraded to murder following the victim's death. Blanton told police he felt threatened and fired shots at the victim’s vehicle, believing he saw a gun, though no evidence confirmed the victim was armed. Police detained two individuals from the pickup truck for questioning and continue to investigate the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting. The victim's identity remains withheld pending family notification.
