5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Injures 7, Damages Homes in China's Gansu Province
A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck Longxi County in Dingxi City, Gansu Province, northwest China, early on Saturday morning, at a depth of 10 kilometers. The quake was felt strongly across multiple counties in Dingxi and Tianshui cities, causing damage to over 110 houses and resulting in minor injuries to at least seven people, all of whom have been hospitalized. No fatalities have been reported so far, though assessments of the disaster are ongoing. In response, Chinese authorities activated a level-three national emergency response, deploying rescue teams, vehicles, and specialized personnel to the affected area to support local governments in relief efforts. The China Earthquake Administration has emphasized enhanced earthquake monitoring and timely information updates as part of the emergency measures. Both local and national rescue teams continue to manage the situation as investigations into the full extent of the damage proceed.
