Confirmed EF-0 Tornado Hits Murfreesboro
The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-0 tornado with 75 mph winds hit Murfreesboro, Tennessee, near Middle Tennessee State University on Monday, marking the first recorded tornado in July for Rutherford County. The tornado had a path length of nearly 3.5 miles and a width of 100 yards. Additionally, downburst winds reaching up to 80 mph caused significant damage south of the tornado track, impacting areas from Interstate 24 to Downtown Murfreesboro. The storm led to over 2,500 power outages and disrupted traffic lights, with most power restored within a few hours. Damage was reported on the MTSU campus and throughout downtown Murfreesboro, with city crews clearing debris and managing traffic. Nearby Clinton County also experienced storm damage, including a radar-confirmed tornado and several road closures due to fallen trees.
