Man Dies After Stabbing in El Cajon; Suspect Arrested

A 59-year-old man from El Cajon was fatally stabbed during an altercation in a parking lot of an apartment complex on the 900 block of South Sunshine Avenue. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and despite being transported to a hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries. Stephen Matthews, a 29-year-old man from La Mesa with an extensive criminal history including assault with a deadly weapon and firearm charges, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of homicide. Authorities have not released the victim's identity and have not confirmed any prior relationship between the two men.
