Ilia Malinin, the reigning world champion, secured his second Grand Prix title in consecutive weeks by winning gold at Skate Canada with a total score of 301.82 points, outpacing Japan's Shun Sato, who earned silver with 261.16 points. The 19-year-old achieved this remarkable feat by landing four quadruple jumps and introducing a backflip in his performance, following his recent victory at Skate America. Malinin becomes the first man since 1999 to win both Skate America and Skate Canada in the same season, ensuring his qualification for the Grand Prix Final in December. South Korea's Cha Jun-hwan finished third with 260.31 points, while the Canadian ice dance duo Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier led their event after the rhythm dance. The Grand Prix series continues with events in France, Japan, Finland, and China before the final in December.
