Teoscar Hernández of the Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby, narrowly defeating Kansas City Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. 14-13 in the final round. Hernández became the first Dodgers player and the seventh Dominican to win the derby, achieving a total of 49 home runs across all rounds. Witt, a local favorite from Colleyville Heritage High School, made it to the finals by hitting 17 home runs to beat José Ramírez in the semifinals. Hernández advanced to the finals after a tiebreaker swing-off against Philadelphia’s Alec Bohm. Pete Alonso, aiming for a record-tying third win, was eliminated in the first round. Both finalists were first-time participants in the Home Run Derby.
