A second man has died from injuries sustained during a shooting at Eastern Market in Detroit following a Lions game on September 15, 2024. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. after a fight broke out among a crowd gathered for tailgating. A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene, while a man in his 20s succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital. An Oak Park man in his 30s has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting, with two handguns recovered at the scene. Detroit Police Chief James White emphasized the dangers of combining alcohol and firearms, stating, "Tailgating, drinking and guns – they don’t mix." The investigation is ongoing, and a candlelight vigil is planned in honor of the victims.
