Winnipeg Jets Acquire Luke Schenn From Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded defenseman Luke Schenn to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a second-round pick in 2026 and a fourth-round pick in 2027. Schenn, 35, was recently acquired by the Penguins from the Nashville Predators and is on a three-year contract with a $2.75 million cap hit. In addition to Schenn, the Penguins have also acquired forward Tommy Novak in the deal, while sending left wing Michael Bunting to Nashville. The trade allows the Penguins to stockpile draft picks, bringing their total to 30 in the next three years. Schenn is known for his defensive capabilities and physical play, having recorded over 3,500 hits in his career. Meanwhile, the Jets have also added forward Brandon Tanev from the Seattle Kraken for a second-round pick in 2027, further bolstering their roster ahead of the trade deadline.
