Multiple Rescues Save Drivers Across India, China, US
Separate rescue incidents across India, China and the United States saw emergency crews and bystanders free drivers trapped after vehicles plunged, rolled, or collided. In Srirangapatna, Mandya, a van driver named Dhananjaya was trapped overnight after his vehicle fell into a 20-foot ditch and was rescued the next morning by a fire team using hydraulic equipment before being treated at Srirangapatna General Hospital. In Taizhou, Jiangsu, veteran Di Shuangcheng swam to a car in a river and reportedly smashed its sunroof with a brick to pull a trapped driver out as police arrived; Di was later honored by local authorities and the driver was hospitalized. In Montana, recent college graduate Markus Klewin jumped into a moving car and helped stop it after the driver lost consciousness from a seizure, preventing further harm. Grand Rapids firefighters freed a driver from an overturned SUV on Wealthy Street and paramedics transported the injured occupant to hospital while ramps were blocked during extrication. Early-morning crashes in Orange and Greenfield Township, Massachusetts (Route 2 and Route 89) required heavy extrication, including the jaws of life, and injured people were taken to hospitals while roads were temporarily closed or remain under investigation.
