James Purefoy, Charlotte Riley Cast as He-Man’s Parents in 'Masters of the Universe'

The upcoming live-action film 'Masters of the Universe,' directed by Travis Knight and set to release on June 5, 2026, has cast James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley as King Randor and Queen Marlena, the parents of Prince Adam, who becomes He-Man. Nicholas Galitzine will portray He-Man, joined by a diverse cast including Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms. The film will explore Prince Adam's journey as he discovers his past and battles the evil forces threatening Eternia, incorporating elements from the original 1980s cartoon while promising new twists. Purefoy and Riley's characters are initially unaware of their son's superhero identity, a narrative detail that may be explored differently in this adaptation. The screenplay is penned by Chris Butler, with contributions from David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee, and is produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films.
