Cubic Awarded US Army Mortar Training Systems Contract for CONUS Centers

Cubic Defense has been awarded a three-year Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) contract to engineer and manufacture 60mm and 81mm mortar Tactical Engagement Simulation Systems (TESS) training systems for the U.S. Army Program Executive Office – Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI). These Live Training System-Mortar (LTS-Mortar) systems will be rapidly fielded to U.S. Army combat training centers within the continental United States, including the National Training Center and Joint Readiness Training Center, enhancing training realism. The LTS-Mortar system, which originated as a prototype in 2021, allows mortar teams to employ systems consistent with live fire tactics, techniques, and procedures, delivering realistic battlefield effects in force-on-force training environments. Alicia Combs, Cubic's Ground Training Vice President and General Manager, emphasized the system's impact on training readiness and its ability to close a training gap by enabling real-time execution of fire missions and indirect fire effects in Unified Land Operations. Separately, Cubic Defense also secured a firm-fixed-price indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide 102 new P5 Combat Training System Pods with System Security Upgrades and Block 7 engineering enhancements, supporting secure, interoperable, and encrypted air combat training for U.S. and coalition forces through 2028. This dual focus on ground and air training solutions underscores Cubic's role in advancing U.S. military training capabilities across multiple domains.
