EasyJet to Open Newcastle International Airport Base

easyJet has announced it will open a new three-aircraft base at Newcastle International Airport in March 2026 as part of its UK expansion strategy. The investment is expected to create around 130 direct jobs and support up to 1,200 roles in the region, strengthening connectivity for the North East and Southern Scotland. The base will enable easyJet to expand beyond its current eight routes from Newcastle, further enhancing leisure and inbound travel opportunities. This move follows recent base openings in London Southend and Birmingham, consolidating easyJet's role as the UK's largest leisure airline. Additionally, easyJet holidays has broadened its offerings, recently launching packages to destinations such as Rimini, Italy.
