BBC, RTÉ Commission Two-Season Crime Drama Filming Ireland
Tall Tales & Murder, a new darkly comedic crime drama, has begun production in Dublin and is set to premiere in 2026. The series, co-created by Stuart Carolan, known for RTÉ's Love/Hate, and Emmy-winning Chris Addison, is based on the beloved Dublin Trilogy novels by Caimh McDonnell. The show stars Ella Lily Hyland, Aidan Gillen, Philippa Dunne, and Packy Lee, and is produced by Avalon in association with Metropolitan Pictures and Screen Ireland. Commissioned by RTÉ and BBC Northern Ireland, the drama consists of two six-part series and blends fast-paced storytelling, offbeat humor, and gritty crime. Both Carolan and Addison express excitement about collaborating to adapt the novels into a “dark and delicious screwball drama.” RTÉ’s Head of Drama, David Crean, praised the scripts and cast, emphasizing the series' potential for national and international success.
