Robert Musson Sentenced to Life for Child Assault

Robert Musson, 59, was sentenced to life in prison for six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child following a jury trial. The abuse involved two minor victims occurring at separate times between 2016 and 2020, and compelling testimonies from the victims were pivotal during the trial. An additional victim testified during sentencing, stating Musson had expressed regret after she reported the abuse. Families of the victims provided impactful statements, highlighting the betrayal of trust as Musson lived with them while committing the abuse. State's Attorney Jacqueline Lacy commended the courage of the victims and the efforts of local advocacy groups and law enforcement in securing justice. Musson's actions were investigated by the Danville Police Department with support from the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center.
