Chilean Nationals Charged in Athlete Burglary Spree

Seven men from Chile have been charged with orchestrating a series of burglaries targeting the homes of professional athletes, including NFL players Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Joe Burrow, as well as NBA player Bobby Portis. These burglaries, which occurred between October and December 2024, involved stealing over $2 million worth of valuables such as jewelry, watches, and cash. The men, identified as part of a South American theft group, exploited athletes' public game schedules to plan their heists and face charges of conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property, potentially facing up to 10 years in prison. The criminal complaint highlights the group's method of operation, including breaking windows or using crowbars to enter homes. The investigation involved cellphone data, surveillance footage, and license plate readers to link the suspects to the crimes.
