Masked Burglar Breaks Into Huddersfield Mosque, Community Distressed

A Huddersfield mosque, the Markazi Jamia Masjid Riza & Islamic Centre in Birkby, was broken into in the early hours of September 2 by a masked man wearing all black clothing and a hooded coat. The suspect forced entry through a door but was unsuccessful in stealing any property. West Yorkshire Police are treating the incident as a burglary and are investigating with the help of CCTV footage. Inspector Nicholas Kitson noted that the break-in caused distress to the mosque members and emphasized the seriousness of offenses at places of worship. Councillor Imran Safdar expressed that the community is in a 'state of shock' and deeply saddened by the deliberate damage, highlighting the mosque's peaceful nature and its history of supporting good causes in the UK. Both police and local officials have appealed to the public for any information or footage that could assist in the investigation.
