Pennywise Returns in It: Welcome to Derry
HBO released the full trailer for It: Welcome to Derry, an Andy and Barbara Muschietti–produced prequel that reunites Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise and is set in 1962. The season follows the Hanlon family and a new group of children as they uncover Derry’s violent history and unsolved disappearances, and the trailer teases deeper origins and Stephen King multiverse Easter eggs such as a Shawshank bus and a young Dick Hallorann. Andy Muschietti directs multiple episodes while Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane serve as showrunners. The cast includes Jovan Adepo, Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, James Remar and others. It: Welcome to Derry is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max in late October (widely reported as Oct. 26, with some outlets noting Oct. 25) and will run weekly into December. The first season is reported as eight episodes, though some outlets list nine.
