M&S Eyes New Warehouse in Northamptonshire

Marks & Spencer (M&S) is exploring a potential deal for a new one million square foot distribution center in Northamptonshire to enhance its online retail capabilities for fashion and homeware. The retailer aims for 50% of its clothing and home sales to occur online, as it currently reports that 32% of such sales are online, with 9.4 million active online customers. M&S has recently upgraded its website and app to improve user experience, including personalized features and streamlined navigation. Additionally, M&S is planning to build a new 'full-range' store in Weymouth, which is expected to create around 105 jobs and replace its current store by 2027. The expansion efforts reflect M&S's strategy to modernize its supply chain and respond to the growing demand for online shopping. M&S's chief executive has emphasized the need for a stronger digital presence to capture more online market share.
