A statue of iconic country music legend Johnny Cash has begun its journey from Arkansas to the U.S. Capitol, where it is set to be unveiled on September 24. The eight-foot-tall bronze statue replaces two older statues that represented Arkansas for over a century, following a 2019 legislative decision to honor more prominent state figures. Cash, who sold over 90 million records and was inducted into both the Country Music and Rock & Roll Halls of Fame, is celebrated for his profound impact on music across various genres. The statue's send-off included members of Cash's family and state officials, marking a significant tribute to the 'Man in Black,' who was born in Kingsland, Arkansas. Another statue of civil rights leader Daisy Bates was unveiled earlier this year as part of the same legislative change. Cash's legacy continues to resonate, with his music remaining influential across generations.
