NASCAR unveiled its first electric vehicle (EV) prototype at the Chicago Street Race, developed in partnership with ABB and OEM partners Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota. The prototype, part of NASCAR's Impact sustainability initiative, features three STARD UHP 6-Phase motors and a 78-kWh liquid-cooled battery, producing 1,000 kW of peak power. Despite its impressive acceleration, the EV is slightly slower in turns due to its heavier weight. This move aligns with NASCAR's goal to achieve net-zero operating emissions by 2035, though gasoline-powered race cars will remain for the foreseeable future.
