Fincher to Direct 'Squid Game' English Adaptation

David Fincher is reportedly set to direct an English-language adaptation of the Korean hit series 'Squid Game' for Netflix, potentially titled 'Squid Game: America'. This new series will reimagine the high-stakes game in a U.S. setting, with Fincher collaborating with writer Dennis Kelly. Fincher's involvement follows his successful partnership with Netflix on projects like 'Mindhunter' and 'Love, Death & Robots'. The original 'Squid Game', a massive global success since its debut in 2021, is set to release its second season on December 26. This adaptation marks the first scripted English-language extension of the Squid Game franchise, which has already expanded into reality TV and video games. Although Netflix has not officially commented, Fincher is expected to focus on this project in 2025, after possibly working on another film in the interim.
