Police Rescue 1,300-Pound Horse from Icy Pond in Saratoga Springs
A dramatic rescue took place in Saratoga Springs, New York, when a 22-year-old horse named Sly fell through the ice of a pond and was in imminent danger of freezing to death. His owner, Ali Ernst, quickly called for help and struggled to keep Sly's head above water until police officers arrived. Saratoga Springs Police Department officers, equipped with ropes, teamed up with Ernst and local firefighters to pull the 1,300-pound horse to safety. The rescue, which was captured on body camera footage, showcased the teamwork of approximately nine individuals, including Ernst's grandfather and neighbors. After being freed, Sly received veterinary care and was able to walk to a nearby barn. The police department expressed pride in their swift actions and the successful outcome of the rescue.
